About Your Visit

Your initial visit is focused on understanding your condition and creating a treatment plan that best supports your recovery. During this appointment, our provider will:

  • Review your medical history and details of your injury
  • Conduct a focused examination and discuss your symptoms
  • Review or request diagnostic imaging, as appropriate
  • Outline a customized treatment plan and next steps

Please bring any medical records, imaging studies, or prior treatment notes related to your injury. This information helps our providers gain a complete understanding of your case and ensures continuity of care.

Follow-Up Visits

Follow-up appointments are an essential part of your treatment process. These visits allow our providers to monitor your progress, evaluate your response to therapy, and adjust your plan as needed.

Pre-Operative Instructions

Proper preparation is essential for your safety and the success of your procedure. Please review the following pre-operative guidelines carefully:

Pre-Op Fasting Requirements

For safety reasons, no food or drink is to be consumed after 12:00 AM midnight on the eve of your procedure. This includes water, coffee, tea, juice, clear liquids, lozenges, mints, chewing gum, and hard candy.

Consuming anything during this period may increase anesthesia risks and could result in the cancellation of your procedure.

Transportation

A driver is required only if anesthesia or sedation is being used. You will not be permitted to drive yourself home after these procedures.

Fasting

No liquids or solids for at least 8 hours prior to your scheduled procedure time.

Clothing

Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing and flat, sturdy shoes.

Personal Items

We cannot replace lost or misplaced items. Please bring only essentials such as glasses, dentures, hearing aids, canes, walkers, or wheelchairs.

Valuables

Leave jewelry (rings, watches, earrings, body piercings) and other valuables at home. All jewelry must be removed prior to the procedure.

Confirmation Call

A nurse will contact you 3–5 days prior to your scheduled procedure to confirm details and answer any questions.

Following these guidelines helps ensure your procedure is performed safely, efficiently, and without delay.

After Care Instructions

After your procedure, please follow the instructions below carefully to support a safe and effective recovery.

Self-Care
  • Keep the injection site and dressing clean and dry. Remove the dressing after a few hours or once any bleeding has stopped.
  • Apply a cold pack to the injection site for 15 minutes, up to 6 times per day, for the first 1-2 days as needed to reduce discomfort or swelling.
Nutrition
  • Resume your normal diet after the procedure unless instructed otherwise.
Activity / Assistive Devices
  • Avoid strenuous activities, heavy lifting, or exercise for 1-2 days following your procedure. Gradually resume normal activity over several days.
  • You may shower, but avoid baths, hot tubs, and pools for 1-2 days.
  • Do not drink alcoholic beverages for 24 hours.
  • Do not operate heavy machinery or drive if you received sedation.
  • Record your pain levels daily and bring your notes to your follow-up appointment with your provider.
Symptoms to Report to Your Doctor
  • Dizziness or feeling unsteady while walking or standing
Danger Signals — Seek Immediate Medical Attention

Contact your physician or go to the emergency room if you experience any of the following:

  • Chills or fever greater than 101°F (38.3°C)
  • Headache that worsens when standing
  • New or increased weakness/paralysis in arms or legs
  • Numbness in new areas other than your usual symptoms
  • Severe or unusual pain not relieved by over-the-counter medication
  • Increased swelling, redness, or tenderness at the injection site
  • Drainage or bleeding from the injection site
  • Chest pain or shortness of breath
  • Seizure activity
Additional Information
  • Hold aspirin, NSAIDs, and anticoagulants for 24 hours after your procedure, unless otherwise directed by your physician.
  • If steroids were administered, be aware that mild side effects such as insomnia, mood changes, skin flushing, or increased blood sugar may occur. The effects of steroids typically begin within 2–3 days.
